Condition Report

First edition. The eminent physicist and naturalist describes here the microscope of his realization, which replaced the perfect sphere lenses, and the microscopic observations he performed on inert, plant and animal bodies for a complex of 46 observations. The work should have been the first of a series, but then no more appeared. DBI: "It should also be remembered ... The D. microscopist, inventor of some technical solutions and author of remarkable observations... In the preface and in the first chapter, D. describes his instrument ... [some observations] have a historical evidence and debated those on the central nervous system, where D. believed that he could visually capture interstitial cells." DBI, XXXVII, p. 576.
