Condition Report

First edition. This is the first organic treatment of an Etruscan sarcophagus found in Tuscania by the same author. The bas-relief carved on the sarcophagus chest represents a trip to the afterlife by an Etruscan magistrate while being escorted by a funeral procession. Campanari, together with his children, was one of the most tireless discoverers of Etruscan antiquities, the protagonist of numerous excavation campaigns in many centers of southern Etruria, bringing to light complexes of exceptional importance. One of its major merits was the great dissemination work of the Etruscan civilization which, through its discoveries, was brought to the attention of the international cultural world.
