Condition Report

Rare and precious edition of this treatise which immediately reached great popularity, and in a very short time it was translated into Italian, English and Spanish. De Prodigis examines popular prejudices about divinatory art: it takes the form of a dialogue between Polidoro and his friend from Cambridge. Polidoro Virgilio da Urbino, 1470-1555, was an Italian humanist, writer and friend of Erasmus of Rotterdam. From 1502 to 1552 he lived in the English court and was the historic Tudor court. The work is dedicated to Francesco Maria I, duke of Urbino.
