Condition Report

First French edition translated by Sigaud de La Fond. Peter van Musschenbroek, together with his pupils, created the famous Leyda experience: it was also due to him that he introduced the instruments and apparatus for teaching physics. Wheeler Gift: "The first volume of this important text-book on natural philosophy contains one hundred closely printed pages on electricity and magnetism; references frequently given. The translator was himself a distinguished physicist." The plates illustrate with great details all sorts of physical experiences, machines, electrical and pneumatic devices; the part dedicated to electricity is particularly large.
