8vo, 188x100 mm, contemporary full vellum binding; gilt title on label on back. Sprayed polychorme edges. Pp. [8], 30, [2], 525, [1], 7, [3]. Printer’s device on titlepage. Woodcut initials and ornaments. The last 7 pages presents the editorial catalog of Pagliarini. Some leaves slightly browned. Nice copy.

First edition, despite the words '' revised and increased ''; the work, in fact, although written by the author in 1712, was never printed; this publication was made, on the advice of Pope Benedict XIV, by Giovanni Gaetano Bottari, who revised and corrected the manuscript. This interesting guide describes in detail the architectural features and masterpieces of the Vatican Apostolic Palace. Agostino Maria Taia was a religious, man of letters and art scholar of Sienese origins.
