Prima edizione. L’autore propone un progetto di sistematica rilevazione idrografica del bacino della Senna con i suoi affluenti, onde avere un quadro completo delle risorse idriche della regione e della loro possibile utilizzazione sistematica. L’opera è dedicata a Napoleone I, proclamato Imperatore nel 1804. L'ingegnere idraulico piemontese Castellano, Idraulico Nazionale e professore di matematica a Torino, fu tra i pionieri nel campo della statistica idrografica.
