Prima edizione di questo trattato, importante per l’epoca in cui fu scritto, del matematico e ingegnere francese Guisnée, allievo di Vauban.  "Les savants ne tardirent pas à apprecier un Traité qui était un des meilleurs dans son genre... (Guisnée) s’étendit beaucoup sur les méthodes de construction (des équations), qu’il appliqua même à des équations différentielles du premier ordre, à l’aide des courbes transcendentes". (Biogr. Univ., XIX/202).
