3 parti in un volume in-8vo piccolo. 145x85 mm. Legatura coeva in piena pelle, titolo e fregi in oro al dorso. Custodito in cofanetto recente in marocchino. Pagine [34], 531, [31], 30. 3 frontespizi. Exlibris araldico al contropiatto. Bell’esemplare. 

Rarissima prima edizione francese del "Tractatus theologico-politicus", seconda tiratura con l'errore di stampa "preeace". Prima edizione delle ‘Reflexions curieuses’. Il pensiero di Spinoza fu conosciuto in Europa soprattutto grazie a questa traduzione. spinozaweb.org: “After many deliberations the States of Holland, Zeeland and West-Friesland suppressed Spinoza’s posthumous works in an official placard on 25 June 1678.” La pubblicazione del Tractatus theologico-politicus, 1670, suscitò notevole scandalo negli ambienti ecclesiastici, tanto cattolici quanto protestanti, e da essi si diffuse la cattiva fama di un empio e blasfemo Spinoza. La Chiesa cattolica inserì le sue opere tra i libri proibiti nel marzo del 1679 e confermò la condanna nel 1690. 
Il volume contiene, con frontespizi separati le opere: Reflexions curieuses d'un Esprit des-Interressé sur les matieres les plus importantes au salut, tant public que particulier, che reca l’indicazione tipografica «A Cologne [i.e. Amsterdam], chez Claude Emanuel, 1678»; Traitté des Ceremonies Superstitieuses des Juifs tant Anciens que Modernes, A Amsterdam, chez Jacob Smith, 1678. Molto importanti le ‘Reflexions curieuses’, che contengono le annotazioni di Spinoza sul Trattato, scritte pochi mesi prima della sua morte, nel 1677.
