Acquaforte e puntasecca su carta vergellata; 232x195 mm. Mancante della scritta in didascalia in basso al centro. Buono stato di conservazione.

Copia ottocentesca. Questa incisione raffigura la scena finale della parabola del buon samaritano (Luca 10: 25–37) in cui il samaritano si fermò per aiutare un viaggiatore che era stato attaccato dai ladri. La scena rappresenta nello specifico il Samaritano che a cavallo porta l'uomo ferito in una locanda e paga le cure e l'alloggio dell'uomo. Il buon samaritano ripete con una serie di variazioni la composizione del suo dipinto nella Wallace Collection di Londra. Tra le aggiunte di Rembrandt vi è in primo piano il cane defecante che aggiunge una nota di realtà quotidiana alla scena biblica.

Nineteenth-century copy. This engraving depicts the final scene of the parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10: 25–37) in which the Samaritan stopped to help a traveler who had been attacked by thieves. The scene specifically represents the Samaritan who on horseback takes the wounded man to an inn and pays the man's care and accommodation. The Good Samaritan repeats the composition of his painting in the Wallace Collection in London with a series of variations. Among Rembrandt's additions is the foreground dog defecating which adds a note of everyday reality to the biblical scene.
