Litografia di 360x505 mm. Ampi margini. Macchia marginale. Bell’esemplare.

Bellissima litografia in cui trova ampio spazio la lussureggiante flora brasiliana e una ricca fauna. Anche i tre personaggi in primo piano, probabilmente europei dediti alla caccia, sembano osservare incantati il paesaggio. Il luogo in questione è un lago sul fiume Sao Francisco. 
Inserita nell’opera “Atlas zur Reise in Brasilien in den Jahren 1817 bis 1820”, Munchen 1823-1831.

Lithography of 360x505 mm. Wide margins. Marginal stain. Nice specimen.

Beautiful lithography depicting the luxuriant Brazilian flora and a rich fauna. Even the three characters in the foreground, probably Europeans dedicated to hunting, seem to be enchanted by the landscape. The place in question is a lake on the Sao Francisco River.
Von Martus was a German botanist, zoologist and anthropologist.
From 1817 to 1820, together with the zoologist Johann Baptist Ritter von Spix he led an expedition to Brazil, on behalf of the King of Bavaria, during which the course of the Amazon River and some tributaries such as the Tabatinga were explored. During their trip to Brazil, important observations were also made on the life, culture and languages of the Brazilian natives, especially the Tupi.
