In-folio. 305x216 mm. Legatura in mezza pelle e cartonato marmorizzato, angoli. Carte [354]. Segn.: [ast]6A-2P62Q-2S82T-3L6. Marca sul Frontespizio e in fine, carattere corsivo e romano. Grande xilografia di un sistema planetario geocentrico, ritratti xilografici di Bianchini e Pruckner in testa alla prima pagina di testo, altre illustrazioni nel testo. Antiche note di appartenenza manoscritte al Frontespizio, numerosi marginalia di mano coeva, un foglio di carta vergellata inserito tra SS1 e SS2 con calcoli, cifre e annotazioni di mano coeva. Ex libris ‘Owen Gingerich’ incollato al contropiatto. Firma di Laurentius Schreckenfuchs [un parente dell'astronomo copernicano Erasmus Oswald Schreckenfuchs (1511-1579)] con data 1575 sul margine inferiore del Frontespizio; un'altra firma barrata in cima al titolo; timbro di ‘V. Zach’ vicino al marchio xilografico. Piccolo restauro all’angolo superiore del frontespizio, per il resto bell’esemplare.

Rara prima edizione combinata delle tavole solari, lunari e planetarie di Bianchini e Prugner, insieme alle Tabulae eclypsium di Peurbach. Questa raccolta di tavole planetarie fu assemblata e curata da Nikolaus Pruckner, professore di astronomia a Tubinga. Include versioni aggiornate delle tavole di Bianchini, pubblicate originariamente nel 1494, insieme alle tavole delle eclissi di Peurbach, basate sulle tavole di Alfonsine. Il foglio di calcolo inserito in questa copia si trova nella sezione delle tavole delle eclissi di Peurbach. DSB: “Peurbach expanded and re-arranged the tables needed for every step in eclipse computation, saving the calculator much time and relieving him of a number of tedious procedures”.
Esemplare appartenuto al Professore, astronomo, storico e bibliofilo Owen Gingerich.

In-folio. 305x216 mm. Quarter leather binding, corners. Leaves [354]. Printer’s device on the title-page and at the end, roman and Italian type. Large woodcut of a geocentric planetary system, woodcut portraits of Bianchini and Pruchner at the head of the first text page; others illustrations in the text. Ancient handwritten notes on title-page, several contemporary marginalia, a laid leaf inserted between SS1 and SS2 with contemporary handwritten calculations, figures and annotations. Ex Libris of Owen Gingerich glued on the inside cover. Signature of Laurentius Schreckenfuchs [a relative of Copernican astronomer Erasmus Oswald Schreckenfuchs (1511-1579)] with date 1575 in lower margin of Title-page; another signature crossed out at top of title; stamp of 'V. Zach' near the woodcut printer's device. Small restoration on the upper corner of title-page. Nice copy.

Rare first combined edition of the solar, lunar and planetary tables of Bianchini and Prugner, together with Peurbach's Tabulae eclypsium. This collection of planetary tables was assembled and edited by Nikolaus Pruckner, professor of astronomy at Tübingen. It includes updated versions of Bianchini's tables, originally published in 1494, along with Peurbach's eclipse tables, based on Alfonsine's tables. The spreadsheet included in this copy can be found in the section on Peurbach's eclipse tables.
