Vivida raffigurazione dell’attacco della flotta olandese alla città di S. Salvador e alla flotta mercantile portoghese. Ai lati della baia sono raffigurati e indicati i fortini difensivi portoghesi, mentre le costruzioni principali della città si ergono sulla cresta collinare della baia.
La stampa fa parte del libro di Isaac Commelin “Wilhelm Maurits van Nassau, Princen van Orangien, Haer Leven en Bedrijf”, un’opera incentrata sulle campagne militari intraprese da Fredrick Hendrick Van Nassau, principe d’Orange. Le tavole in rame presenti nell’opera illustrano varie battaglie e assedi nella lotta al controllo del Sud America e la guerra olandese contro il dominio spagnolo.

Vivid depiction of the attack by the Dutch fleet on the city of S. Salvador and the Portuguese merchant fleet. On the sides of the bay are depicted and indicates the Portuguese defensive forts, while the main buildings of the city stand on the hilly crest of the bay.
The print is part of Isaac Commelin's book "Wilhelm Maurits van Nassau, Princen van Orangien, Haer Leven en Bedrijf", a work centered on the military campaigns undertaken by Fredrick Hendrick Van Nassau, Prince of Orange. The copper plates in the work illustrate various battles and sieges in the struggle for control of South America and the Dutch war against Spanish rule.
