3 volumi in-12mo. Legatura coeva in pelle avana marmorizzata, dorso a cinque nervi con fregi in oro, titolo e numero di volume in oro su tasselli, tagli rossi. Vol. 1: Pagine vxj, 358, [2], 4 carte di tavole. Vol. 2: Pagine [4], 441, [1], 35 carte di tavole. Vol. 3: Pagine [4], 450, [8], Errata in fine, 4 carte di tavole.
In totale, 2 mappe ripiegate e 40 tavole incise in rame fuori testo. 
Difetti alla legatura tra cui angoli usurati, segni di tarlo alle estremità della testa e del dorso, leggera sporcizia, riparato nel margine t. 2, p. 97.

Rara prima edizione di quella che è considerata l'opera più importante sulla Louisiana. Offre ampie informazioni sulla sua storia, la fauna, la flora, la geografia, la storia mineraria e gli abitanti indigeni. È illustrata con due grandi mappe ripiegate:  "Carte de La Louisiane" e "Golfe du Mexique"; inoltre 40 tavole di rame incise con la rappresentazione di diverse specie di piante e frutti, animali, nativi; una di queste è una mappa ripiegata della città di New Orleans.
Le Page du Pratz iniziò il suo soggiorno di sedici anni in Nord America. Di stanza in Louisiana, viaggiò molto lungo il Mississippi, arrivando fino all'attuale Memphis. I suoi successivi scritti sulla vita, la storia e l'ecologia, con particolare attenzione alla tratta degli schiavi e alle popolazioni indigene, consacrarono Le Page du Pratz come una delle principali autorità sulla Louisiana francese: egli offre molte informazioni utili sui Natchez e altre tribù del Mississippi; il suo lavoro nel complesso ha costituito la base per molti studi successivi sullo stesso periodo.

Di particolare interesse è un breve resoconto della spedizione di Louis de St. Denis nel Nuovo Messico del 1715.
Molto importanti la mappa ripiegata di New Orleans e la Carte de la Louisiane, che mostra un ampio fiume Missouri che scorre verso est.

3 volumes in 12mo. Contemporary marbled brown leather binding, five-ribbed spine with gilt rules, gilt title and volume number on the covers, red edges. Vol. 1: Pages vxj, 358, [2], 4 plates. Vol. 2: Pages [4], 441, [1], 35 plates. Vol. 3: Pages [4], 450, [8], Errata at the end, 4 plates. In total, 2 folded maps and 40 copperplate plates outside the text. Binding defects including worn corners, wormholes at the ends of the head and spine, light soiling, repaired in the margin on vol. 2, p. 97.

Rare first edition of what is considered the most important work on Louisiana. It offers extensive information on its history, fauna, flora, geography, mineral history and indigenous inhabitants. It is illustrated with two large folded maps: "Carte de La Louisiane" and "Golfe du Mexique"; also included are 40 copper plates engraved with depictions of various species of native plants, fruits, and animals; one of these is a folded map of the city of New Orleans.
Le Page du Pratz began his sixteen-year sojourn in North America. Based in Louisiana, he traveled extensively along the Mississippi River, reaching as far as present-day Memphis. His subsequent writings on life, history, and ecology, with particular attention to the slave trade and indigenous peoples, established Le Page du Pratz as a leading authority on French Louisiana. He offers much useful information on the Natchez and other Mississippian tribes; his work as a whole has formed the basis for many subsequent studies on the same period. Of special interest is a short account of Louis de St. Denis's expedition to New Mexico in 1715.
Very important are the folding map of New Orleans and the “Carte de la Louisiane”, which shows a large eastward-flowing Missouri River.
