In 8vo; 170x105 mm. Legatura coeva in piena pelle, dorso a 5 nervi con titolo in oro al dorso, doppia cornice di filetti impressi a secco ai piatti, fleuron dorato al centro e agli angoli. Carte [36], 478, senza l'ultimo foglio bianco. Centinaia di illustrazioni xil. nel testo. Carte iniziali e finali rinnovate, angoli restaurati. Firme di appartenenza manoscritte al frontespizio. Alcune carte con aloni di umidità; per il resto buon esemplare.

Rara seconda edizione della prima traduzione francese, pubblicata originariamente nel 1556.
Questa vasta enciclopedia scientifica, che tratta di cosmologia, alchimia, meccanica, biologia e fisica, si propone come una sintesi delle scienze occulte studiate da Cardano e delle scienze naturali. Secondo Stanilas de Guaita i suoi Ventuno Capitoli sarebbero basati sui XXI Arcani dei Tarocchi. Le illustrazioni sono le stesse dell'edizione originale del 1556.

In 8vo; 170x105 mm. Contemporary full leather binding, spine with five nervs and gilt title to spine, double frame of blind-stamped rules to covers, gilt fleuron at center and corners. Leaves [36], 478, without the last blank leaf. Hundreds of woodcut illustrations in the text. Renewed initial and last endpapers, corners restored. Manuscript ownership signatures to title page. Some leaves with waterstains; otherwise good copy.

Rare second edition of the first French translation, originally published in 1556.
This vast scientific encyclopedia, covering cosmology, alchemy, mechanics, biology and physics, is intended as a synthesis of the occult sciences studied by Cardano and the natural sciences. According to Stanilas de Guaita, its Twenty-one Chapters are said to be based on the XXI Arcana of the Tarot. The illustrations are the same as in the original 1556 edition.
