Incisione all’acquaforte e bulino. 120x240 mm. Iscrizioni, nel margine inferiore: dx. “Israel Silvestre fecit”; centro ‘Titolo’; dx. “Israel ex. cum privil. Regis.” 

Bella veduta del Palazzo dei Cesari. Israel Silvestre (Nancy 1621 – Parigi 1691) è stato un incisore, disegnatore ed editore. Fece tre viaggi di studio in Italia: nel 1640, nel 1643-1644 e nel 1653 per copiare opere di antichi maestri. Portò con se molte vedute dell’Italia, quasi tutte incise. A partire dal 1643 il suo stile divenne più raffinato e simile a quello di Jacques Callot e di Stefano della Bella, con i quali ebbe rapporti di amicizia, attraverso lo zio materno, l’editore Israel Henriet, dal quale ereditò la bottega a Parigi nel 1661.
Questa veduta fu inserita nell’opera ‘Livre de diverses Perspective, et Paisages faits sur le naturel, mis en lumiere par Israel’. Faucheux: “Suite de 8 pieces et le titre, sans numeros”.

Beautiful view of the Palace of the Caesars. Israel Silvestre, Nancy 1621 - Paris 1691) was an engraver, draftsman and publisher. He made three study trips to Italy: in 1640, 1643-1644 and 1653 to copy works by old masters. He brought with him many views of Italy, almost all engraved. Starting from 1643 his style became more refined and similar to that of Jacques Callot and Stefano della Bella, with whom he had friendly relations, through his maternal uncle, the publisher Israel Henriet, from whom he inherited the workshop in Paris in 1661.
This view was included in the work ‘Livre de diverses Perspective, et Paisages faits sur le naturel, mis en lumiere par Israel’. Faucheux: “Suite de 8 pieces et le titre, sans numeros”.
