Cinque incisioni su carta vergellata. 144x195 mm. ca. Rifilate sull’impronta del rame. Firmate “Jacob de Backer invenit” nelle lastre. Nella tavola che raffigura l’Udito compare l’indirizzo dell’editore “Ioannes Me˙ssens excudit Antverpić”. Sulla maggior parte delle incisioni sono presenti tracce di sbavatura a puntasecca. Timbro in inchiostro di vecchio possessore al verso. Ciascuna rifilata sul segno della lastra, nel complesso in buono stato di conservazione. 

Serie completa delle cinque incisioni con allegorie dei sensi, tratte dai quadri originali di J. A. Backer. Jacob Adriaensz Backer, 1608-1651, pittore olandese del Secolo d’Oro, subě fortemente l'influsso di Rembrand e fu uno dei piů valenti seguaci del grande maestro. Varie opere di lui passarono, e forse passano tuttora, sotto il nome di Rembrandt. Era un disegnatore abile ed ebbe a sua volta parecchi scolari.

Five engravings on laid paper. 144x195 mm. approx. Trimmed on the platemark. Signed "Jacob de Backer invenit" on the plates. The plate depicting "Hearing" contains the publisher’s address “Ioannes Me˙ssens excudit Antverpić”. There are traces of drypoint burr on most of the impressions. Each trimmed on the platemark, each overall in good condition. 

Complete series of five engravings with allegories of the senses, taken from the original paintings by J. A. Backer. Jacob Adriaensz Backer, 1608-1651, a Dutch painter of the Golden Age, was strongly influenced by Rembrandt and was one of the great master’s most talented followers. Several of his works passed, and perhaps still pass, under the name of Rembrandt. He was a skilled draughtsman and had several pupils of his own.
