Arrest du conseil d’Estat du Roy, concernant les Billets de Banque, les Actions de la Compagnie des Indes, le cours des especes, & le prix des matieres d’or & d’argent. Du 5 mars 1720.

4to; 255x180 mm. Pp. 8. Vignetta xil. Annotazione manoscritta all’ultima pagina. Mancanza sull’angolo inferiore sinistro, che non investe il testo, tracce d’uso. 

Fase cruciale dell'avventura di John Law, fondatore nel 1716 della prima banca privata con diritto di emettere banconote, poi della Compagnie d'Ouest nel 1718, infine ideatore di un sistema monetario unendo la banca, la Compagnia e lo Stato, che aveva il controllo del commercio estero e delle grandi imprese del regno. Dopo un breve periodo di attività, l'imprudenza delle trasmissioni, la febbre speculativa e la concorrenza finirono per provocare il fallimento.

Crucial phase of the adventure of John Law, founder in 1716 of the first private bank with the right to issue banknotes, then of the Compagnie d'Ouest in 1718, finally creator of a monetary system uniting the bank, the Company and the State, which had the control of foreign trade and large enterprises of the kingdom. After a short period of activity, the imprudence of the transmissions, the speculative fever and the competition ended up causing bankruptcy.
