Autograph letter from Linois, Chief of Staff of the Naval Armada addressed to Rear Admiral Vence, commander of the Arm.
Linois asks Vence to proceed with the instruction of the surrender of the frigate La Sensible exposing the situation of the former captain of this frigate “pénible pour l'homme d'honneur qui se persuade avoir constamment suivi les lois de son devoir...” He also sends him "l'état des bâtiments envoyés composant l'armée, et les noms de leurs commandants" and acknowledges receipt of the coastal signals sent.
Charles-Alexandre Léon Durand Linois (1761 - 1848) was a naval admiral, victorious against the British at the Battle of Algeciras in 1801.
