NAPOLEON III. Moniteur des Communes.
Paris, Imprimerie impériale, February 21, 1856
8 pages in 4to, 270 x 185 mm. A fine copy.
Report to Emperor Napoleon III on the work at the Louvre, detailing the major completed buildings. The report emphasizes that there were still expenses to be incurred for ornamentation and interior design. Napoleon III requested a third project in which the galleries of the two wings would be removed; only the Louvre and the current gallery would remain, connecting the Louvre Palace with the Tuileries Palace.
The work was entrusted to Hector-Martin Lefuel (1810 - 1880), then architect of the Château de Fontainebleau, who replaced the architect Louis Visconti, who died in 1853.
