Two rare pamphlets. One contains a list of 105 works on Syria, Palestine, and Arabia from the personal library of the Duke of Luynes, while the other illustrates the scientific journey undertaken by the Duke in 1864 to Palestine, all the way to the Dead Sea. The scientific expedition was aimed at archaeological research.
The Duke of Luynes was Honoré Théodoric d'Albert de Luynes (1802-1867), a prominent French numismatist, archaeologist, and philanthropist, heir to a vast fortune and several French noble titles.
