GOURNAY, Maurice-Auguste-Marie; de. Lettera autografa firmata a ‘Monsieur Laurence fils’.
S. d. [ante 1779]

Bifolio. 222x175 mm. Testo in francese sulle prime 2 pagine, con firma in fine. Pagina 3 bianca. Indirizzo sulla quarta pagina ‘Monsieur Laurence fils banquier … Poitiers’. A pagina 4, timbri e traccia di sigillo araldico in ceralacca rossa. Tracce d’uso.

“L’abbè Savoye m’a dit qe’il vous ecriverait”. 

Maurice de Gournay, che si firma con la sua carica di ‘Major des gardes’ rassicura il banchiere di Poitiers riguardo l’ammissione dei suoi due figli nell’Ordine di Malta, nonostante l’opposizione di Signor de la Houssaye. Nell’incipit è citato un importante rappresentante dell’Ordine, che farà in seguito una prestigiosa carriera: l’Abbé Louis Savoye, Malta 1756, nel 1782 fu eletto Segretario della Venerabile ‘Langue de France’. Nel 1787 divenne ‘chapelain conventuel’; il 1 novembre 1793, Rohan lo nominò ‘Recteur de l’eglise collegiale de la Grotte de St Paul a Rabat (Malta).
Il Duca Maurice de Gournay, 1741-1779, fu accolto nell’Ordine di Malta il 13 marzo 1742.

Bifolio. 255x210 mm. Testo sulla prima pagina, 2 pagine bianche, destinatario nella pagina 4: “Monsieur La Croix, Chevalier et genealogiste de l’ordre de malthe … pres St Chaumont Paris”. Inchiostro nero, timbri e sigillo rosso in ceralacca nella pagina con l’indirizzo. Buona conservazione.

‘Monsieur le Chevalier … mon nouveau brevet’.

Unito con: Lettera al Cavalier Lacroix, genealogista dell’Ordine di Malta.

Testo su due pagine, pagina 3 bianca, destinatario nella pagina 4: “Monsieur Lacroix, Chevalier … archiviste et et genealogiste de l’ordre souverain de St. Jean de Jerusalem … Paris”. Inchiostro nero, timbri e sigillo rosso in ceralacca nella pagina con l’indirizzo. Buona conservazione.

‘Je vous remercie beaucoup de la communication … certainement que l'Ordre de Malte est reconnu en France et aussi aux Pays-Bas’

Queste due lettere, indirizzate all’archivista e genealogista francese dell’Ordine di Malta, riguardano una domanda di ammissione e il riconoscimento da parte dei Paesi Bassi dei brevetti rilasciati a Parigi dall'Ordine di San Giovanni di Gerusalemme.

Bifolio. 222x175 mm. French text on the first two pages, with signature at the end. Page 3 is blank. Address on fourth page ‘Monsieur Laurence fils banquier … Poitiers’. On page 4, stamps and trace of red heraldic seal wax. Traces of wear.

“L’abbè Savoye m’a dit qe’il vous ecriverait”.

Maurice de Gournay, who signs himself with his position as 'Major des gardes', reassures the Poitiers banker regarding the admission of his two sons into the Order of Malta, despite the opposition of Monsieur de la Houssaye. In the incipit an important representative of the Order is mentioned, who would later have a prestigious career: Abbé Louis Savoye, Malta 1756, in 1782 he was elected Secretary of the Venerable 'Langue de France'. In 1787 it became 'chapelain conventuel'; on 1 November 1793, Rohan appointed him 'Recteur de l'eglise collegiale de la Grotte de St Paul in Rabat (Malta).

These two letters, addressed to the French archivist and genealogist of the Order of Malta, concern an admission request and the recognition by the Netherlands of the patents issued in Paris by the Order of St. John of Jerusalem.
