3 parti in un volume in 4to. 198 x 154 mm. Legatura in pergamena, tagli rossi. Carte 32, 84, 148, 60. Carattere Romano e Italico, 38 righe più il titolo. Marca tipografica xilografica sui tre frontespizi e alla fine della terza parte, Iniziali, Testatine e Finalini xilografici. Numerose illustrazioni xilografiche nel testo (principalmente emblemi all'interno di cerchi). Legatura leggermente sporca, occasionali leggere macchie.

Prima edizione del libro sugli emblemi di Capaccio, che contiene numerosi emblemi e simboli tratti dal mondo naturale. Nel primo libro, Capaccio esamina in dettaglio le diverse teorie dell'emblematica, le differenze tra simboli ed emblemi, sottolineando il fatto che l'essenza dell'impresa è un concetto intellettuale; discute anche l'interpretazione dei geroglifici e il significato dei colori. Il secondo e il terzo libro sono dedicati rispettivamente ai simboli e agli emblemi.

3 parts in one volume, 4to. 198 x 154 mm. Vellum binding, red edges. [32], 84, 148, 60 leaves. Roman and Italic type, 38 lines plus headline. Woodcut printer's device on the three title pages and at the end of the third part, woodcut initials, headpieces and tailpieces. Numerous woodcut illustrations in the text (mostly emblems within roundles). Binding slightly dirty, occasional light staining.

First edition of Capaccio's book on emblems, which contains numerous emblems and symbols taken from the natural world. In the first book, Capaccio examines in detail the different theories of emblematics, the differences between symbols and emblems, emphasising the fact that the essence of the enterprise is an intellectual concept; he also discusses the interpretation of hieroglyphics and the meaning of colours. The second and third books are devoted to symbols and emblems respectively.
