2 volumi in 8vo. 155 x 94 mm. Preziosa legatura inglese del XVIII secolo in marocchino rosso, dorso con nervature rialzate impreziosite da rotella in oro, scomparti decorati al centro con un cuore ardente trafitto da due frecce impresso ai piccoli ferri, grappoli d'uva agli angoli, tasselli in marocchino marrone con i titoli; sui piatti: una cornice formata da una catenella al bordo e due filetti, graziosi ornamenti agli angoli (una corona, uno scettro a giglio e palmette), tagli dorati. Carte [56], 277, [1]; 251, [1]. In entrambi i volumi, Colophon in fine “Venetiis, in aedibus Aldi, et Andreae Asulani soceri, 1524 mense aprili”. 
Carattere Corsivo, greco, romano. Marca editoriale ‘Ancora con delfino e scritta ALDUS ai lati’ sui frontespizi e in fine. Ex libris Macclesfield sul contropiatto e timbri a secco. Magnifico esemplare con ampi margini.

Rara e preziosa terza e ultima edizione Aldina. Č pubblicato l’intero corpus delle opere di Omero: Iliade nel primo volume; Odissea, Batrachomyomachia e Inni nel secondo. Si tratta della ristampa dell'edizione aldina del 1504, pubblicata anche nel 1517. Include le vite di Omero di Erodoto e Plutarco. Sui Frontespizi titoli in Greco e in Latino. L'edizione del 1504 fu ristampata dalla prima edizione greca di Firenze del 1488.
Esemplare di prestigiosa provenienza, appartenuto alla Macclesfield Library (Shirburn Castle), con ex libris araldici (North Library) e timbri a secco.

Precious 18th-century English binding, Red morocco leather, spine with raised bands and a gilt roll tooling, compartments decorated in the center with a charming tool (a flaming heart pierced by two arrows), bunches of grapes at the corners, brown morocco title labels; on the covers: a border formed by a chain pattern  and two rules, charming tools in the corners (a crown, a fleur-de-lis scepter and palmettes), a chain pattern on the edges, gilt edges. Leaves [56], 277, [1]; 251, [1]. In both volumes, Colophon at the end: "Venetiis, in aedibus Aldi, et Andreae Asulani soceri, 1524 mense aprili." Italic, Greek, Roman type. Printer's device: "Anchor with dolphin and ALDUS on the sides" on the title pages and at the end. Macclesfield bookplate on the inside cover and blind stamps. A magnificent copy with wide margins.

Rare and valuable third and final Aldine edition. The entire corpus of Homer's works is published: the Iliad in the first volume; the Odyssey, Batrachomyomachia, and Hymns in the second. This is a reprint of the 1504 Aldine edition, also published in 1517. It includes the Lives of Homer by Herodotus and Plutarch. The title pages feature Greek and Latin titles. The 1504 edition was reprinted from the first Greek edition published in Florence in 1488.
A copy of prestigious provenance, formerly owned by Macclesfield Library (Shirburn Castle), with heraldic bookplates (North Library) and blind stamps.
