A rare first edition. A work dedicated to Pozzuoli and its surroundings. The plates, engraved in copper by Bianchi, Zaballi, Cimarelli and G. Morghen, depict views, monuments and topographical maps of Pozzuoli and its surroundings from Posillipo to Capo Miseno. Among these: View from above Posillipo, Map of Pozzuoli, Remains of the Amphitheatre of Pozzuoli, Lake Averno.

8vo. 203x135 mm. Contemporary binding in stiff parchment with covers overlaid with red paper, handwritten title on the spine. Frontispiece with a portrait of Maria Theresa of Austria, engraved title page, pages VI–152. 50 copper-engraved plates outside the text with Roman numerals, 1 unnumbered plate at the end of the text. In total 53 full-page plates. Slight signs of wear to the binding, sporadic slight foxing inside, a fine copy.
