Pregiata edizione. Opera commissionata da Papa Sisto V per assistere i revisori che stavano preparando l'edizione latina della Vulgata ordinata dal Concilio di Trento, l'edizione "Sistina" o "Romana" della Settanta fu curata dal Cardinale Antonio Carafa sulla base del Codex Vaticanus e divenne lo standard per tutte le edizioni successive della Settanta per tre secoli dopo la sua pubblicazione.

Folio. 335x230 mm. Legatura posteriore in piena pelle con fregi in oro al dorso e cornici dorate ai piatti, risguardi marmorizzati, tagli oro. Pagine [8], 783, [1]. Grande vignetta incisa sul frontespizio con figure di Mosè ed Esdra ai lati dello stemma di Sisto V. Testo in greco con brevi note latine alla fine di ogni versetto, in due colonne. Difetti alla legatura, restauri sul verso del Frontespizio, sporadico foxing.

A fine edition. Commissioned by Pope Sixtus V to assist the editors who were preparing the Latin edition of the Vulgate mandated by the Council of Trent, the ‘Sistine’ or ‘Roman’ edition of the Septuagint was edited by Cardinal Antonio Carafa on the basis of the Codex Vaticanus and became the standard for all subsequent editions of the Septuagint for three centuries following its publication.

Folio. 335x230 mm. Full leather binding with gilt decoration on the spine and gilt frames on the covers, marbled endpapers, gilt edges. Pages [8], 783, [1]. Large engraved vignette on the title page depicting Moses and Ezra flanking the coat of arms of Sixtus V. Text in Greek with brief Latin notes at the end of each verse, in two columns. Binding defects, repairs on the title page verso, sporadic foxing.
