New edition of this important work, based on the 1732 edition of Leiden, the largest edited by the author. Ferguson: "One of his most important works is the treatise on chemistry, which was based on notes of his lectures, but was afterwards revised by himself." The first volume is a kind of history of chemistry; the second describes in detail the experiments carried out, over 200; the third part contains the Opuscula omnia, which contains orations and scattered writings on medical and anatomical topics: the letters sent to F. Ruysch in 1721 with the latter's answers are also published.
3 parts in 2 vols. in 4to, mm. 250x190; contemporary marbled calf binding, back with 6 sections with rich gilt title and ornaments, marbled endpapers, red edges; 476, (62, , XVII plates ; pp. (8), 346, (48, Index); pp. (4), 231, (3), 2 plates in the text. 3 titlepages, woodcut initials, headpieces and endpieces, round and italic type. A total of 17 plates o.t. with the instruments and chemicals objects and 2 engravings in the text in the third part. Some scattered, but nice specimen with margin.
