Rara opera figurata su Roma. Questa nuova edizione include un’Antiporta e 61 tavole all'acquatinta, colorate a mano e incise, la maggior parte firmate da Mérigot, altre da Edwards e Mérigot. Le tavole colorate a mano raffigurano paesaggi o rovine di Roma e dintorni, e ciascuna è accompagnata da un testo esplicativo in francese e inglese.

4to grande. 330x270 mm. Legatura coeva in mezza pelle, piatti e fogli di guardia marmorizzati, titolo e decorazioni in oro sul dorso. Antiporta, Pagine 36 non numerate, compreso Frontespizio, 62 Tavole fuori testo incise in acquatinta e colorate. Ex libris al contropiatto di H.R. Raven. Testo in inglese e francese. Occasionali fioriture, legatura con difetti.

A rare illustrated work on Rome. This new edition includes a frontispiece and 61 hand-coloured, engraved aquatint plates, most signed by Mérigot, others by Edwards and Mérigot. The hand-colored plates depict landscapes or ruins of Rome and its surroundings, and each is accompanied by an explanatory text in French and English.

Large 4to. 330x270 mm. Contemporary half-leather binding, marbled covers and endpapers, gilt title and gilt decorations on the spine. Frontispiece, 36 unnumbered pages, including the title page, 62 engraved and colored plates outside the text. Ex-libris on the inside front cover by H.R. Raven. Text in English and French. Occasional foxing, binding with defects.
