Il maresciallo Pétain stringe la mano a un operaio sullo sfondo di una fabbrica con ciminiere fumanti. In basso campeggia la frase del Maresciallo Philippe Pétain: “Je tiens les promesses même celles des autres”
(Mantengo le mie promesse, anche quelle degli altri).
Henri-Philippe-Omer Pétain è stato un generale e politico francese. Generale molto rinomato durante la prima guerra mondiale, maresciallo di Francia, fu a capo del governo collaborazionista di Vichy dal 1940 al 1944, in seguito al secondo armistizio di Compiègne.

Henri-Philippe-Omer Pétain was a French general and politician. A renowned general during the First World War, Marshal of France, he headed the collaborationist Vichy government from 1940 to 1944, following the second armistice of Compiègne.
