Trittico, Ôban tate-e (vertical). 360x740 mm. Firma: “Toyokuni ga”, in cartiglio Toshidama rosso. Editorer: Tsutaya Kichizô. Sigilli dei censori: Fuku, Mumatsu. . Sigillo ovale con data zodiacale (Topo, con Uru-zuki). Tracce d’uso, colori brillanti. 

Suggestiva scena dall’opera Sumidagawa tsui no kagamon. La trama principale si basa sulle astute macchinazioni della Tsubone Iwafuji, che portano alla morte suicida della buona e pacifica Onoe. Tuttavia, la serva Ohatsu ha preso le difese della sua padrona. Alla fine, Ohatsu vendica la morte della sua padrona uccidendo la malvagia rivale con un sandalo zori, in cui aveva infilato una lama.

Triptych, Ôban tate-e (vertical). 360x740 mm. Sign: “Toyokuni ga”, in a red Toshidama cartouche. Publisher: Tsutaya Kichizô. Censors’ seal: Fuku, Mumatsu. Oval seal with zodiac date (Rat, with Uru-zuki). Signs of wear. Bright colours.

Beautiful scene of the play Sumidagawa tsui no kagamon. The main plot is based on the cunning machinations of Tsubone Iwafuji, which lead to the suicidal death of the good and peaceful Onoe. However, the servant Ohatsu stood up for her mistress. Ultimately, Ohatsu avenges the death of her mistress by killing her evil rival with a sandal zori, which she had slipped in.
