Rarissima e importante collezione di opere monografiche dedicate a diverse nazioni o stati. 
Segnaliamo: Gasparo Contarini, De Republica Venetorum. 1628, con una veduta a volo d’uccello di Venezia nel Frontespizio; Leo Africanus, Africae descriptio, 1632, in 2 volumi, con un Frontespizio allegorico; Hugo Grotius, De Mare Libero, 1633, con un superbo Frontespizio inciso raffigurante un veliero.
Abbiamo inoltre, fra gli altri: Danimarca e Norvegia, 1629; Gallia, 1629; Turchia, 1630; Russia, 1630, Germania, 1634.
Lyons: “Between 1626 and 1649, Bonaventure and Abraham Elzevir published a bestselling series titled the Respublicae (commonly known as the Republics or Petites Républiques), the ancestor of the modern travel guide. Each of the thirty-five volumes in the series gave information on the geography, inhabitants, economy, and history of a country in Europe, Asia, Africa, or the Near East.”
Elzevir è il nome di una famiglia di librai, editori e tipografi olandesi del XVII e inizio XVIII secolo. La serie in formato dodicesimo degli "Elzevir" divenne molto famosa e ambita tra i bibliofili, che cercavano di procurarsi le copie più alte e in perfette condizioni di questi piccoli libri.

In 12mo. 108x55 mm. Legature omogenee di poco posteriori, pergamena rigida, titoli in oro sui dorsi, tagli marmorizzati. Tutte le opere con Frontespizi incisi in rame figurati. Esemplari in buone condizioni.

An extremely rare and significant collection of monographs devoted to various nations or states. 
Of particular note are: Gasparo Contarini, "De Republica Venetorum", 1628, featuring a bird’s-eye view of Venice on the title page; Leo Africanus, "Africae descriptio", 1632, in 2 volumes, with an allegorical title page; Hugo Grotius, "De Mare Libero", 1633, with a superb engraved frontispiece depicting a sailing ship.
We also have, amongst others: Denmark and Norway, 1629; Gaul, 1629; Turkey, 1630; Russia, 1630; Germany, 1634.

Elzevir is the name of a family of Dutch booksellers, publishers, and printers of the 17th and early 18th centuries. The duodecimo series of "Elzevirs" became very famous and very desirable among bibliophiles, who sought to obtain the tallest and freshest copies of these tiny books.

12mo; 108x55 mm. Uniform slightly later bindings in stiff vellum, gilt title on spines, marbled edges. All the works bears illustrated etched title pages. Good copies.
