Romae, typis Barberinis. Excudebat Dominicus Antonius Hercules, 1702
First edition of this memorial, a masterpiece of late Baroque publishing, published for the funeral of James II, King of England, Scotland, and Ireland, held in the church of San Lorenzo in Lucina in Rome in 1701. It begins with a large view of the church interior with its elaborate catafalque, while many of the single-page plates feature emblematic drawings and extol James's virtues; three of them depict a bird's-eye view of London, Paris, and Rome. The splendid copperplate engravings were created by Alessandro Specchi from drawings by Sebastiano Cipriani.
