In Roma: nella stamparia d'Ignatio de' Lazari, 1659 (In Roma: per Ignatio de Lazari, 1659)
A rare edition of this monumental biography of Saint Ignatius of Loyola. Divided into five books, it constitutes a historical source of primary importance. Daniello Bartoli was summoned to Rome in 1649 by Father Carafa to serve as the Society’s official historian, and from that point onwards he worked tirelessly on his colossal project of a general history of the Jesuits, the preface to which was to be this biography of Saint Ignatius.
