ALIGHIERI, Dante.
In Venetia, appresso Giouambattista, Marchiò Sessa, & fratelli, 1564
A rare and sought-after illustrated edition, the first to combine the commentaries of Vellutello and Landino, edited by Francesco Sansovino.
The four unnumbered leaves inserted between leaves 163 and 164 at the beginning of "Purgatorio" contain Vellutello's description of it. The exquisite illustrations, 10 in Vellutello's Description of the Inferno and the others at the beginning of the cantos, are by Marcolini.
