Acquaforte e puntasecca, 140x198 mm. In basso al centro: CL i. Incollata su cartoncino agli angoli. Bell’esemplare.

Questa stampa riproduce in controparte e con alcune differenze (per es. è stato aggiunto il faro) un disegno di Claude Lorrain facente parte del "Liber Veritatis" databile al 1633-1634 e che reca sul verso l'iscrizione "faict pour Paris. Claudio fecit in VR". Tale disegno doveva essere preparatorio di un dipinto disperso. Robert-Dumesnil A.P.F. (1967, v. XI pp. 170-171 n. 11 ) testimonia l'esistenza di quattro stati: 1) I stato: prima del numero "7" nel margine inferiore a sinistra e con gli angoli acuti; 2) II stato) con l'aggiunta del numero "7" nel margine inferiore a sinistra e ancora con gli angoli acuti; 3) con gli angoli arrotondati; 4) nel margine inferiore si trova la seguente iscrizione: "N. 44, p. 8.". Robert-Dumesnil 11, Mannocci 37 V.

Etching and drypoint, 140x198 mm. On the margin in the middle: CL i. Glued to the corners on cardboard. Nice specimen.

This print reproduces in counterpart and with some differences (for example the lighthouse has been added) a drawing by Claude Lorrain belonging to the "Liber Veritatis" datable to 1633-1634 and which bears the inscription "faict pour Paris. Claudio fecit in VR ". This drawing was to be preparatory to a missing painting. Robert-Dumesnil A.P.F. (1967, v. XI pp. 170-171 n. 11) testifies to the existence of four states: 1) I state: before the number "7" in the lower left margin and with acute corners; 2) state II) with the addition of the number "7" in the lower left margin and again with acute corners; 3) with rounded corners; 4) in the lower margin there is the following inscription: "N. 44, p. 8.".
