San Francesco d’Assisi. La Benedizione.
Bassano, Remondini, prima metà XIX secolo

Incisione a bulino. 170x110 mm. Margini. Iscrizioni: nell’immagine, in cartiglio “Il Signore i guardi e benedica … Amen”; in altro cartiglio in basso “Benedizione di S. Francesco”; sotto l’immagine, legenda esplicativa “Questa S. Benedizione diede Iddio a Moisé, e Gesù Christo al P. S. Francesco …” Buono stato di conservazione. 

Rarissima stampa popolare dei Remondini. San Francesco benedice frate Leone e nel cartiglio è impresso il testo completo della Benedizione. La legenda ne indica le miracolose proprietà: “Chiunque la porterà indosso con viva fede è stata sperimentata contro fulmini, fantasmi, malcaduco, dolori di parto, febbri, morti improvvise, pericoli di Mare, insidie di inimici, ed altri mali.”
No in Zotti Minici, che censisce al n. 1294 una stampa simile “San Francesco d’Assisi benedice frate Leone”.

Condition Report

Burin engraving. 170x110 mm. Margins. Inscriptions: in the image, in cartouche "May the Lord watch over you and bless... Amen”; in other cartouche at bottom "Blessing of St. Francis"; below the image, explanatory legend "This Holy Blessing gave God to Moisé, and Jesus Christ to Fr. St. Francis ..." Good condition. 

Very rare popular Remondini print. St. Francis blesses Brother Leo and the full text of the Blessing is imprinted in the cartouche. The legend indicates its miraculous properties: "Whoever will wear it with lively faith it has been experienced against lightning, ghosts, falling sickness, childbirth pains, fevers, sudden deaths, dangers of the Sea, snares of enemies, and other evils."
