8vo, 200x130 mm; legatura in cartonato. Pp. 16. 3 carte di tavola incise in rame f.t., di cui 2 ripiegate. Titolo dell’opera nell'intitolazione. Nota manoscritta di appartenenza in inchiostro bruno all’ultima pagina “Li 7 aprile 1845 in Napoli. Antonio Jannelli R.”. Uniformi fioriture. Buon esemplare.


Millin, erudito antiquario e naturalista francese, pubblicò diversi saggi sulle rappresentazioni dipinte sui vasi greci. Di questo in particolare, descrive le rappresentazioni di un vaso greco appartenuto al re di Napoli e poi finito in Inghilterra, che mostra la battaglia tra i Greci e le amazzoni e i dieci eroi protettori dell’Attica.

8vo, 200x130 mm; binding on boards. Pp. 16. 3 plates engraved on copper o. t., which of 2 are folded Title of the work in the header. Handwritten note of previous ownership in brown ink on the last page: "Li 7 aprile 1845 in Napoli. Antonio Jannelli R.". Spread browning, but good copy.


Millin, a learned antiquarian and French naturalist, published several essays on the depictions painted on the Greek vases. Of this in particular, describes the representations of a Greek vase belonging to the king of Naples and then finished in England, which shows the battle between the Greeks and the Amazons and the ten patron heroes of Attica.
