2 parti in un volume in 8vo grande; 190x115 mm. Legatura coeva in piena pelle bruna marmorizzata, titoli e fregi in oro al dorso, tagli rossi a spruzzo. Pp. 24 nn., incluso Antiporta e Frontespizio inciso, 1 tavola incisa; Pp. 315, 12, 36 n.n., Indice, ultima bianca. Iniziali, Testatine e moltissime figure di medaglie incise in rame n.t., 2 Antiporte, 2 Frontespizi, una tavola con Ritratto, 105 Tavole f.t., tutto inciso in rame. In totale 2 Frontespizi e 108 Tavole f.t. incise in rame. Bell’esemplare.

Rara seconda edizione figurata, accresciuta e corretta. Quest’edizione è più importante rispetto alla prima del 1687: contiene 140 incisioni di medaglie in più, per un totale di 303 medaglie; inoltre, come spiega l’editore nell’avvertimento in capo al libro, sono state reincise e corrette 60 medaglie che nella prima edizione che erano state riprodotte, per errore degli incisori di Parigi, in controparte. Nelle 12 pagine finali è data spiegazione dettagliata degli interventi di correzione; nelle ultime 2 carte la lista delle tavole fuori testo e la loro collocazione.

2 parts in one volume in 8vo large; 190x115 mm. Contemporary full marbled leather binding, gilt titles and ornaments on spine, red sprayed edges. Pp. 24 nn., including engraved Frontispiece and title-page, 1 engraved plate; Pp. 315, 12, 36 nn., Index, last blank. Initials, Headpieces and many copper-engraved medal illustrations in the text, 2 Frontispieces, 2 titlepages, a plate with portrait, 105 f.t. plates, all copper-engraved. In total of 2 titlepages and 108 copper-engraved plates out text. Fine copy.


Rare illustrated second edition, enlarged and corrected. This edition is more important than the first of 1687: it contains 140 more engravings of medals, for a total of 303 medals; in addition, as the publisher explains in the warning at the end of the book, 60 medals that in the first edition had been reproduced, by mistake of the Paris engravers, in reverse, have been re-engraved and corrected. The final 12 pages provide a detailed explanation of the corrections; the last 2 pages list the plates outside the text and their location.
