8vo; 150 x 105 mm. Legatura coeva in pergamena con titolo manoscritto al dorso. Pp. 18 (2 carte bianche), 110 pp., 358 (di 360, due pagine bianche mancanti), 2 carte bianche. Frontespizio in rosso e nero. Carattere latino e Gotico. Con 4 incisioni su rame fuori testo, di cui una ripiegata. 
Le due tavole tratte da Dürer sono il bel ritratto di Pirckheimer e il Carro Trionfale di Massimiliano, stampato su 3 fogli. Ex libris inciso di Robert Saitschick su una pagina di guardia bianca. Esemplare con tutte le tavole incise, mancano 2 fogli bianchi. Alcune bruniture e alcuni piccoli difetti alle carte di tavola.

Rarissima Prima edizione. Contiene le traduzioni di Willibald Pirckheimer, 1470-1530, di testi di autori classici, una poesia di Erasmo, una descrizione del carro trionfale dell'imperatore Massimiliano e altre opere, nonché la prima biografia del grande umanista, scritta dal pronipote Johann Imhoff. L’edizione contiene il ritratto solenne di Pirckheimer, solitamente mancante, con il monogramma AD di Durer.

Di grande impatto la magnifica incisione su tre fogli raffigurante il Carro Trionfale dell’Imperatore Massimiliano. La stampa fu impressa in xilografia da Durer, su otto fogli, con i testi composti dall’amico Willibald Pirckheimer, e fu pubblicata la prima volta nel 1522. BM: “Copy of a woodcut of 1522, showing the Great Triumphal Car; in a chariot Emperor Maximilian, wearing the imperial robes and the crown of the Holy Roman Empire, accompanied by numerous allegorical figures; Victoria kneels behind him holding a laurel wreath over his head, the cardinal virtues standing on pedestals at the four corners of the car, the car is pulled by six pairs of horses and driven by Ratio; with inscriptions next to the figures. 1606. Engraving […] According to Schoch (following von Murr's attribution), this print was made by Jakob Binck; according to Heller, this print is too late for Binck and he suggests Heinrich Ulrich as maker instead.”
Le altre incisioni su rame mostrano una rappresentazione allegorica della "Fucina del Cuore" e lo stemma Imhoff. 
Mancanti: una pagina bianca dopo la parte 1, così come la pagina bianca 159/160 nella seconda parte.
Provenienza: Ex libris inciso di Robert Saitschick (1868-1965, storico della letteratura e filosofo russo-svizzero) da Fidus (ovvero, Hugo Höppener) su una pagina di guardia bianca.

8vo; 150 x 105 mm. Contemporary full vellum binding with handwritten title on the spine. 18 pages (4 blank pages), 110 pp., 358 (of 360, two blank pages missing), 2 blank leaves. With 4 copperplate engravings (1 folded), 2 of which are after Dürer. The two plates engraved by Dürer are the beautiful portrait of Pirckheimer and the triumphal chariot of Maximilian, printed on 3 sheets. Engraved bookplate by Robert Saitschick on a blank endpaper. This copy has all the engraved plates; 2 blank leaves are missing. Some browning and small defects on the plates.

Extremely rare first edition. Contains translations by Willibald Pirckheimer (1470-1530) of texts by classical authors, a poem by Erasmus, a description of Emperor Maximilian's triumphal chariot, and other works, as well as the first biography of the great humanist, written by his great-nephew Johann Imhoff. The edition contains the solemn portrait of Pirckheimer, usually missing, with Dürer's monogram AD.

The magnificent three-sheet engraving depicting Emperor Maximilian's Triumphal Chariot is striking. The print was printed in woodcut by Durer, on eight sheets, with the texts composed by his friend Willibald Pirckheimer, and was published for the first time in 1522. BM: “Copy of a woodcut of 1522, showing the Great Triumphal Car; in a chariot Emperor Maximilian, wearing the imperial robes and the crown of the Holy Roman Empire, accompanied by numerous allegorical figures; Victoria kneels behind him holding a laurel wreath over his head, the cardinal virtues standing on pedestals at the four corners of the car, the car is pulled by six pairs of horses and driven by Ratio; with inscriptions next to the figures. 1606.
