Oblong 8vo, 115 x 145 mm. Contemporary leather binding with blind tooling. Engraved frontispiece, engraved title page, engraved list of plates, and 29 hand-colored copperplate maps. Maps with handwritten numbering, index of plates on the verso with handwritten additions. Engraved title page, on the recto and verso a monastic library's stamp and the stamp of the dissolution. A total of 31 engraved plates on a double page. Slight yellowing with minor foxing in some places.

Rare portable atlas, in contemporary colouring. Of remarkable taste and elegance, the frontispiece and title page, engraved by Tobias Lobeck on Gottfried Eichler's design. The maps are engraved by Tobias Lotter from the drawings of Tobias Lobeck. The Atlas includes: a double-hemisphere map of the world, a planisphere of the heavens, maps of Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas, and various countries and regions of Europe, many ornate with a cartouche. The map titled "America" shows both North and South America with the northern portion in a somewhat unfinished stage, since this area was still largely unexplored.
