Legatura coeva in piena pelle bruna, tit. e fregi in oro sul dorso a 5 nervi, Antiporta figurata incisa in rame, frontespizio, 3 cc. nn. pp. 512, 4 cc. non numerate, pp. 406; con una tavola incisa in r. ripieg. all’inizio della prima parte e una tavola f.t. all’inizio della seconda parte; test., Iniz. ornate e molte illustrazioni nel testo. Note manoscritte al margine di alcune pagine. Tracce d’uso alla legatura, leggera brunitura uniforme e segni d'umidità, ma buon esemplare.

Bella edizione figurata di quest’opera classica di ippologia. Sono qui trattati tutti i temi che riguardano il cavallo. L’antiporta e le due tavole fuori testo indicano le varie parti del cavallo soggetti a malattie, le illustrazioni xil. indicano le diverse qualità di ferri.

Contemporary full calf binding, titles and gilt ornaments on the spine with 5 ribs, pictorial frontispiece, title page, 3 cc. leaves not numbered pp. 512, 4 leaves not numbered, pp. 406; with a plate engraved folded at the beginning of the first part and a plate at the beginning of the second part; Headpiece, Initials and many illustrations in the text. Handwritten notes on margins on some pages. Sign of wear on binding, slight  spread browning and dampstaining, good copy.

Beautiful illustrated edition of this classic hippology work. All issues concerning the horse are treated here. The Frontispiece and the two plates indicate the various parts of the horse subject to diseases, the illustrations indicate the different qualities of irons.
