Un foglio in 8vo su carta azzurra. 206x133 mm. Data ‘4 Luglio1862’. In basso iscrizione in francese “Autographe du Gen. McClellan Commandant en chef des armeés de l’Union”.

George Brinton McClellan, 1826 – 1885, è stato un ufficiale, politico e ingegnere statunitense. Fu il 24° governatore del New Jersey dal 1878 al 1881 e Comandante Generale dell'Esercito degli Stati Uniti dal novembre 1861 al marzo 1862. Fu anche ingegnere capo e vicepresidente della Illinois Central Railroad e, in seguito, presidente della Ohio and Mississippi Railroad nel 1860.
McClellan organizzò e guidò l'esercito dell'Unione nella campagna della penisola nella Virginia sud-orientale da marzo a luglio 1862.

One sheet in 8vo on light blue paper. 206x133 mm. Date '4 July 1862'. At the bottom inscription in French “Autographe du Gen. McClellan Commandant en chef des armeés de l’Union”.

George Brinton McClellan (December 3, 1826 – October 29, 1885) was an American military officer, politician, and engineer who served as the 24th governor of New Jersey from 1878 to 1881 and as Commanding General of the United States Army from November 1861 to March 1862. He was also chief engineer and vice president of the Illinois Central Railroad, and later president of the Ohio and Mississippi Railroad in 1860.
McClellan organized and led the Union Army in the Peninsula campaign in southeastern Virginia from March through July 1862.
