Rarissime e splendide opere sui costumi e gli abiti del mondo, incisi da Abraham de Bruyn, che insieme raffigurano oltre 500 costumi di tutte le parti del Mondo. 
Oltre a una vasta iconografia di costumi turchi, compaiono costumi dell’America, di Malta, dell’Arabia, della Persia, della Tartaria e dell’Africa. Inoltre, molti costumi europei, e una suite con gli ordini equestri e religiosi. Tra questi sono raffigurati anche i Cavalieri dell’Ordine di Malta. 
L’opera si compone di due suite: la prima include un frontespizio figurato inciso e 61 tavole che mostrano 398 costumi civili di nazioni europee, dell'Impero Ottomano e delle altre parti del Mondo, la seconda comprende un frontespizio inciso e 19 tavole che mostrano 108 paramenti religiosi. Seguono 8 tavole raffiguranti Cavalieri equestri provenienti da un’altra opera di Bruyn. 
Questa edizione, che riprende quella del 1581, č curata da Michiel Colijn, attivo come stampatore e libraio ad Amsterdam 1608-'37, che pone il suo nome sotto il titolo. Per la datazione R. Colas suggerisce “vers 1610”.

In-folio oblungo. 400x540 mm. Legatura in bazzana con ricche impressioni in oro, cornici ornate sui piatti con fleuron al centro, fregi in oro sul dorso, fogli di guardia marmorizzati, tagli dorati. 
Frontespizio inciso figurato, 61 tavole incise, numerate 1-58, con 28b, 28c e 30b; Frontespizio inciso, 19 tavole incise; 8 Tavole incise. In totale due Frontespizi e 88 tavole incise, con 518 costumi.  Lievi tracce d’uso, bello e imponente esemplare con ampi margini.

Extremely rare and splendid works on costumes and dress from around the world, engraved by Abraham de Bruyn, which together depict over 500 costumes from every corner of the globe. 
In addition to an extensive collection of Turkish costumes, the work features costumes from America, Malta, Arabia, Persia, Tartary and Africa. It also includes many European costumes, and a section on chivalric and religious orders. Among these are depictions of the Knights of the Order of Malta. 
The work consists of two sections: the first includes an engraved illustrated title page and 61 plates showing 398 civilian costumes from European nations, the Ottoman Empire and other parts of the world; the second comprises an engraved title page and 19 plates showing 108 religious vestments. This is followed by 8 plates depicting equestrian knights from another work by Bruyn. 
This edition, which is based on that of 1581, was edited by Michiel Colijn, who worked as a printer and bookseller in Amsterdam from 1608 to 1637, and who placed his name beneath the title. Regarding the date, R. Colas suggests ‘vers 1610’.

Oblong Folio. 400x540 mm. Leather binding with rich gilt impressions, adorned frames on covers with fleurons in the centre, gilt ornaments on spine, marbled end papers, gilt edges. Etched illustrated title page, 61 engraved plates, numbered 1-58, with 28b, 28c and 30b; engraved title page, 19 engraved plates; 8 engraved plates. In total two illustrated title pages and 88 engraved plates depicting 518 costumes. Slight traces of wear, nice and imposing specimen with wide margins.
