Rara edizione, magnificamente stampata. Edizione a cura di Isaac Casaubon, con la traduzione in latino di Thomas Naogeorgius. Opera data alle stampe da Frederic Morel, stampatore reale per il greco. 
Parenty: “Morel poursuit l'entreprise de ses predecesseurs en continuant a realiser des editions de prestige fondees sur les manuscrits du tres riche fonds grec de la bibliotheque royale”.
Dione Crisostomo, Prusa, 40 - 120 d.C. circa, noto anche come Dione di Prusa, è stato un oratore, scrittore, filosofo e storico greco. Il corpus delle orazioni dionee, così come ci è pervenuto, consiste di 80 discorsi (tre dei quali certamente spuri), raggruppabili secondo i temi. Le orazioni filosofiche sono quelle più rappresentate, spesso in forma dialogica (orr. I-X, XIII-XXVIII, XXX, XXXVI, XLII, LIV-LIVI, LXII-LXXIV, LXXVI-LXXX). Tra esse, interessanti per il loro contenuto di filosofia politica sono, tra le altre, le orazioni raggruppate come "Sulla regalità" (I-IV), indirizzate quasi sicuramente a Traiano.

Folio. 340x210 mm. Legatura coeva in piena pelle marrone, decorazione ovale in oro sul centro dei piatti, titolo e fregi in oro sul dorso a nervi. Pagine [8], 11, [65], 670, [2], 106, [2], 112, [1]. Frontespizio in rosso e nero con grande marca tipografica raffigurante una fontana ornata zampillante con le Grazie nella sommità e circondata da festoni vegetali, Testatine e Iniziali xilografiche, testo su due colonne in Greco e Latino. Sul Frontespizio la nota tipografica ‘Ex officina Typographica Claudii Morelli’, in fine compare il nome di Frederic Morel. Iscrizione manoscritta sul foglio di guardia, inchiostro bruno. Difetti alla legatura.

Dio Chrysostom, of Prusa, c. 40-120 AD, also known as Dion of Prusa, was a Greek orator, writer, philosopher and historian. The corpus of Dio’s orations, as it has come down to us, consists of 80 speeches (three of which are certainly spurious), which can be grouped according to theme. The philosophical orations are the most numerous, often in dialogical form (Orations I–X, XIII–XXVIII, XXX, XXXVI, XLII, LIV–LIVI, LXII–LXXIV, LXXVI–LXXX). Among these, of particular interest for their political philosophy are, among others, the orations grouped under the title ‘On Kingship’ (I–IV), almost certainly addressed to Trajan.

Red and black titlepage with large printer’s device depicting a spurting fountain and the Graces at the top and surrounded by garlands of foliage, woodcut headpieces and initials, Greek and latin text on two columns. Handwritten note in brown ink on the endpaper. Defects on binding.
