Neumann, head gardener at the Natural History Museum in Paris and responsible for the large greenhouses, describes their construction here, listing suitable plants and the latest exotic species, and explaining the heating issues required to maintain air circulation and humidity. The plates show cross-sections of various cultivation techniques for delicate and exotic plants, including orchids, camellias, and pineapples.
