First edition of this work on the art of gardens, which traces the way gardens of all kinds have been created since Roman times and throughout the world, with descriptions of the constituent components of the gardens themselves. The author's name, Luigi Mabil, can be traced back to the dedication to Giovanni Cavaliere de Lazzara.

8vo; 180x110 mm. Quarter vellum and cardboard binding with corners. Gilt title on label on spine. On the front cover the label with handwritten title and name of author in black ink. Pp. XXIV, 309, [3]. Woodcut vignette on title page. Collation: a8 b4 A-T8 V4, blank the last leaf. Ex Libris Van de Borre pasted on the inside cover. Slight foxing but very good specimen.
