Luigi Stallo, colonel and Garibaldian, who participated in the expedition of the Thousand and in the Risorgimento campaigns, wrote this work "With a mandate from an ancient and accepted Scottish Rite lodge". Under the title the note. "It is sold for the benefit of the family of a wounded man in Mentana". Lattanzi, 1325

First illustrated edition. The work was written after the demolition of the English loggia Unione by the Venetian Senate in 1785. It partially explains the symbolism of the Masonic ritual. Chapters on: Origin and foundation of the Setta de 'Francs-Mašons and explanation of the allegory which includes their mysterious Morality; Different Orders and Classes, into which the Sect of 'F.-M is divided; Plan and description of the Lodge, and way of receiving and enlisting Candidates or Novices. First edition, published with false place of printing. Famous reactionary libellus concerning the Carbonari: the author had been minister of the Bourbon police and had undergone the dismissal and expulsion from the Court by the minister Luigi Medici, who in this work accuses of reckless tolerance towards the Carbonari and of favoring hence the revolution. Two months after the printing of this book, the riots began and the Prince returned to office with great clamor to direct the harsh repression.
