Seconda edizione, di mole quasi raddoppiata, di questo testo del chimico e naturalista francese De La Métherie ,1743-1817. La presente opera, pur non mancando qua e là di taluni spunti interessanti sul piano dell’analisi chimica, è tutta fondata ancora sulla teoria del flogisto. "Many of De la Methérie’s views were based on inaccurate experiments of Priestley ,to which he added some of his own or on misinterpretation of experimental results.  He thought that all combustibles... contain inflammable air, which he identified with phlogiston and thought it is contained in metals".
