Bado and Mart Auctions is pleased to present the summer auction to be held on 16th July at 3 p.m. CEST.
The auction consists of 380 lots including a wide selection of volumes from the 16th to the 20th century, a large selection of Venetian and Japanese prints, drawings, and a varied assortment of autographs, documents and posters.
Opening is a collection of documents, mainly on parchment, containing the signatures of French kings from Sun King Louis IV to King Louis XVIII (Lots 1-7).
This is followed by prints by Piranesi, Piazzetta, Marco Ricci, Tiepolo and Callot.
The auction continues with numerous drawings, a selection of elegant French bindings and an important collection of travel books and atlases (Lots 94-98).
The focus is then on several Japanese woodcut triptychs (lots 103-117) and a rich collection of documents and prints on the French Revolution.
Also on offer are many American and European maps and a small nucleus of optical views.
An interesting section of atlases and Asian history is represented by the group of volumes focusing on Asia and China (lots 206-210) and Japanese woodcuts (lots 221-247).
Lots 249-250 focus on beautiful double-page plates on France (Description des Fetes données par la ville de Paris, 1740 and the 104 plates on Versailles and its gardens in a magnificent contemporary binding with coat of arms of the Marquis de Mereville).
Finally, a splendid testimony of the period between the World War I and Worl War II is outlined by the Epinal prints and a rich collection of French posters of the war periods in question.
